TECHNIQUE CAMP & BAND CAMP 2023

It’s that time of year when we start talking about the next band season!

TECHNIQUE CAMP July 24 - 28 9am-1pm

July 31 - August 4 9am-1pm

BAND CAMP (lunch & dinner provided) August 7-11 9am-9pm

Technique Camp spans a 2 week period in which we start the process of musical and physical training for the season and has proven to be an extremely important part of setting up our students up for success. Rehearsal time is spent working on the fundamental techniques of performance, learning our music and visual package, and (perhaps most importantly) is the period where the band members create lasting relationships, meet new people, and establish the foundation of what will be the 2023-2024 Nation Ford Band!

Band Camp immediately follows Technique Camp and spans a 1 week period that serves as the “spring training” of what we do. Rehearsals last the full day (lunch and dinner are provided to the students) and this is where we put the marching band “production” on the field and assign a drill coordinate to each member. Great attendance is CRUCIAL during this week!

If you have any questions or concerns with Technique Camp or Band Camp, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

FOR ALL PRACTICES:

All band members need to bring: your instrument, a Black 1” binder, page protectors, pencil pouch in the notebook with pencils, a 1 gallon jug (with your name on it), sunscreen, a hat (NOT red), tennis shoes, comfortable clothes to march in, a snack, music, backpack/cinch sack, and instrument/mouthpiece. For Band Camp you may want to bring a sweatshirt or hoodie for when we move inside for the afternoon as the AC will be on and you may be chilly after being outside in the sun all morning.

Remember to begin hydrating early in the summer - you hydrate today for tomorrow!

Guard members will need a white shirt to wear, black shorts, snacks, and a 1 gallon jug (with your name on it).

Jugs should only have water in them! If your child has an inhaler or an epi-pen, it needs to be in their pencil pouch.
